In a recent statement, Nape Nnauye, Member of Parliament for Mtama, warned young people against any attempts to remove the government from power outside constitutional means, emphasizing that such actions amount to treason and carry severe legal consequences. He advised the youth to be cautious, citing historical examples where those inciting political unrest have often remained safe while the real victims were those physically participating in the chaos.
Nape Nnauye further stressed that any unconstitutional attempt to remove a sitting government or president constitutes a grave criminal offense. He emphasized that trying to oust a government or attempting to remove a president against the Constitution is indeed treason, and the punishment is extremely serious, with the penalty for treason being death in Tanzania.
Esther Matiko, MP for Tarime Urban, echoed similar sentiments, calling on Tanzanians to reject incitement and violence and instead work together to build the nation. She praised President Samia Suluhu Hassan's commitment to transparency, accountability, and national development, highlighting the President's efforts to revive the constitutional review process and strengthen financial integrity within the government.
Matiko also noted the government's initiatives to empower youth and women through capital support from various ministries, ensuring employment opportunities and economic upliftment for Tanzanians. She urged citizens to remain alert and avoid misinformation, warning that the future of the nation depends on its ability to protect and build a safe and prosperous home for its children.
Additionally, Njombe Regional Commissioner Anthony Mtaka emphasized the responsibility of youth across the region and the nation in preserving Tanzania's peace and stability. He stated that peace is the solid foundation of the nation's development, and it is the duty of today's youth to protect Tanzania for the benefit of current and future generations.
Mr. Mtaka assured residents that Njombe remains safe and free from criminal threats, with ongoing efforts to strengthen the security environment to support economic activities. He urged citizens to avoid actions that could lead to property destruction, public project harm, or loss of human life, emphasizing the importance of unity and reporting suspicious activities promptly.
